Heart Plushies Project

I like to DIY a lot. I think I will enjoy sharing my projects with you :-)

Heart plushies are easy and fun to make. They're a great stash- or scrap-buster too! I got the idea from this rad heart mobile on Pinterest. I used a variety of different weights and textures of fabrics- the red is burlap-y, the dark pink is courdoroy, the light pink is satiny, and the robin's egg blue is denim. I think they'll look awesome all together.

First you make a cardboard template (in a few different sizes if you want) in the shape of a heart. 

Trace around the cardboard onto the fabric (doubled to save time) and cut along outline. 

Lay a piece of ribbon or lace across the heart and stack the two together.

Pin the ribbon inside the heart sandwich so that it can't slide around as you sew it together.

Stitch around outside of heart 1/4" from edge, leaving a 1-1.5" opening. 

Turn heart inside out with the ribbons or lace across one side. Try to push out the creases and round the tops as well as you can.  Press with warm iron if desired.

Stuff hearts with loose batting (the kind you use for teddy bears). Whip stitch the opening shut by hand. 


You could also sew in a ribbon loop at the top so you could hang them from hooks, etc. I'm planning on threading them through with a needle and clear fishing wire and then hang them from a dowel rod so they "float". More pictures to follow!
